Established 2017. Built and run from Badu.

Edmund and Phyllis Tamwoy own and run Crystal Ailan, Torres Strait Creole for Crystal island, on a bet that a remote community could build and operate this infrastructure itself.

Running a recycling enterprise from an island community means the case has to be made everywhere else too: in Cairns, in Brisbane, in Canberra, in university partnerships and industry rooms. Much of the work happens in transit.
