Containers for Change QLD

Containers for Change WA is Western Australia’s container deposit scheme, operated by not‑for‑profit Western Australia Return Recycle Renew Ltd (WARRRL). Launched on October 1, 2020, it encourages residents to return eligible beverage containers (plastic, glass, aluminium, cartons, pouches) for a 10¢ refund—either to themselves or donated to community groups, charities, and schools . The scheme has significantly boosted recycling, reduced litter, created nearly 900 jobs (including for people with disability and First Nations), and supported over 5,000 community organisations through donations ([warrrl.com.au][1]). Each returned container enters a circular path: sorted at refund points, processed by accredited recyclers, and remanufactured into new products—ensuring “containers living on, again and again.
